This Mango and Coconut Panna Cotta recipe is a showcase of Agar Agar's incredible ability to create dishes that are as delightful to the palate as they are to the eye. Perfect for a refreshing dessert, this recipe combines the tropical sweetness of mango with the creamy richness of coconut, all set into a silky smooth panna cotta.
1 cup mango puree (from about 2 ripe mangos
1/4 cup sugar (adjust based on the sweetness of the mangos)
1 teaspoon Agar Agar powder
1 cup coconut milk
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon Cape Crystal Brands Agar Agar powder
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
In a small saucepan, combine the mango puree, sugar, and Agar Agar powder. Whisk until well combined.
Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly to prevent lumps. Once boiling, reduce the heat and simmer for 1-2 minutes, until the Agar Agar is fully dissolved.
Remove from heat and let it cool for a few minutes. Then, pour the mixture into your serving glasses, filling them about halfway. Tilt the glasses slightly in the fridge to set at an angle for a more dramatic presentation. Allow to set in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
In another saucepan, mix the coconut milk, sugar, Agar Agar powder, and vanilla extract. Whisk to combine.
Heat the mixture until it comes to a boil, then simmer for 1-2 minutes, stirring continuously.
Let the coconut mixture cool slightly. Once the mango layer is set, pour the coconut mixture over it to fill the glasses.
Allow the panna cotta to set in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or until firm.
Serve chilled. Garnish with diced mango or toasted coconut flakes for an extra touch of elegance.
Tips:
Ensure the Agar Agar is completely dissolved to achieve the perfect texture.
Adjust the sugar based on the sweetness of your mangos and personal preference.
For a vegan version, ensure your sugar and other ingredients are vegan-friendly.
